As we continue looking at Elihu’s response to Job, we see that he focuses upon the mercy of God in the sense that suffering can be a corrective measure. He is generally right about this: God often suffers trials to enter our lives to correct, and even sometimes chasten us. But once again, Elihu does not understand the situation anymore than his friends, and ultimately God will have to come on the scene to correct them all!
