This sermon concludes our series on the early life of David. We have seen this man grow from a young boy shepherding his father’s sheep, to a champion slaying a giant, and now to the king he was anointed to be, ascending the throne of Israel. But we have also seen Saul, a constant character in this series, as he degenerates from the anointed king of Israel to the pitiful man who seeks a sorcerer’s schemes when God refuses to give him guidance. Ultimately, Saul and his sons lie slain on the battlefield. Oh the misery of sin!
