In the first half of this sermon, we were examining the necessity of Christ’s sacrifice for our heavenly purification. The sacrifice of bulls and goats in the Old Testament was symbolic and superficial, and could NEVER put away sin, whereas the sacrifice of Christ was substantive and powerful, putting away our sins and purifying us even from a heavenly standpoint. In the last half of this sermon, which we post today, we see that the perfect sacrifice of Christ was needed for the permanent propitiation of the wrath of God upon sin!
