As we began to see yesterday, Peter denied Christ three times and ultimately wept bitter tears over his sin. But there were some reasons Peter got into this position in the first place. Instead of walking close by Jesus’ side, he began to separate himself from Christ little by little, until finally he was warming himself by the world’s fires instead of staying next to Christ. The problems of denial in our lives begin that way as well: the more we distance ourselves from Christ and His Kingdom, the more we risk denying Him in our actions.
