David was truly a “man after God’s own heart,” but he was not a perfect man! There were times when his faith failed. The topic today covers one such time. Although God had sustained David his whole life, even through the mismatched battle with Goliath, when Saul began to seek to kill him his faith failed and he resorted to deceit and subterfuge in order to preserve his own life. Isn’t that often our problem? Don’t we often give lip service to trusting God, but when the rubber meets the road we don’t put that faith into action? Perhaps we can learn some lessons from this episode in David’s life.
