This message was a hard message to preach. In researching the horrible details of how a crucifixion is carried out, I found my mind continuing to go to the view of Jesus on the cross. What an awful six hours of pain and suffering it must have been! And even worse than the physical suffering, the fact – which I cannot fully explain – that there was a “forsaking” that occurred between God the Father and God the Son! And all this was done to ensure that a sinner such as I would be in heaven. May God help us to understand the inestimable cost of our eternal salvation!
