In 1 Samuel chapters 23 and 24, we read about David in his role as a deliverer. He delivered Keilah, a city, from the Philistines; he delivered himself and his men from Saul; and ultimately he delivered Saul from his own hand and the hand of his men. David refused to exact revenge, but was content to leave vengeance in the hand of God. This sermon is the first of three sermons in which we learn about David the Deliverer, who served God in the right way as he saved himself and others, including his enemy Saul.
