Although God had sustained David his whole life, even through the mismatched battle with Goliath, when Saul began to seek to kill him David’s faith failed. Rather than trusting God to protect him, he began to engineer his own escape through deceit and subterfuge. Isn’t that often our problem? Don’t we often give lip service to trusting God, but when the rubber meets the road we don’t put that faith into action? Perhaps we can learn some lessons from this episode in David’s life.
