In a world where there is so much turmoil, it is easy to lose focus and become anxious – terrified, even! What do we need to see when we are in the midst of perilous times? Isaiah was living in such a day – in fact, this particular vision came in the year that the King of Judah died, and the country was politically in flux, while at the same time morally corrupt. So what did Isaiah need to see to settle his mind and give him confidence? He needed to see the Lord God “high and lifted up,” seated upon the throne of His glory! May we likewise have a view of God high and lifted up, for nothing else will ease our fears in an unsettled world!
