The question is often asked in the religious world, “Is your heart right with God?” In most cases, the implication is that a sinner has to get himself right in order to go to heaven. But the question we ask today has to do NOT with eternal salvation, but with the second piece of spiritual armor that we are given: the “breastplate of righteousness.” This item of armor is referring to our daily walk; i.e., NOT to Christ’s imputed righteousness which covers us eternally, but to our own practical, personal holiness. This personal, practical holiness is essential to our victory in the daily spiritual battles of life.
