The Ordination of a Primitive Baptist Elder, Part 3 – Charge (Elder David Crawford), Closing Prayer

Ordination service conducted on 5/14/22

In this final post of the ordination of Elder John Morgan Owens, we have one of the finest charges I have ever heard in an ordination service. Elder David Crawford, pastor of MacClenny Primitive Baptist Church in MacClenny Florida, deals with the real enemies of the Lord’s church today, and charges Elder Owens appropriately. Elder Neil Honea prays the closing prayer.

I hope this series of posts has been helpful to you in understanding the simple way in which Primitive Baptists identify those men who have been called to preach, and ordain them to the full gospel ministry. There is no need for a complicated seminary-based approach to ordaining elders when you have true mentorship and a diligent presbytery willing to make sure the candidate is sound in the faith! And that is exactly what Primitive Baptists try to do as they approach this solemn duty.
