Bildad is the second of Job’s miserable comforters, and he is fixated upon historical experience. He tells Job that history makes it clear that all of his troubles are the result of some sin in Job’s life, and that “Christian karma” is out to get him! Job responds with a plaintive plea to God to appear, and sets forth his own case that he is not suffering for any particular sin in his life.
