When times get tough, we should stay the course, right? Surely that’s what a man after God’s own heart would do! But in 1 Sam. 27, we find that even such a man as David had lapses. As he despaired of outrunning Saul, David decided to defect from Israel and go to the land of Philistia. As we will see, this faithless decision on his part had potentially dire consequences – but once again, God was faithful and delivered him!
