A Man After God’s Own Heart, Part Four – A New Job for David (1 Sam. 16)

by Elder Chris McCool, Pastor (5/21/2017)

Even though God had declared that David was the new king, Saul still occupied the throne in Jerusalem. Rather than flaunt his new position or pridefully assert himself against Saul, David humbly and meekly resumed his position as shepherd to his father’s sheep. Then one day Saul’s advisors sent for him: he had a new job, playing music in an effort to soothe Saul’s disobedient and tortured soul! David was content to abide by God’s timeline, and by doing so he was elevated to the very palace he would one day occupy as king. Join us as we learn some important life lessons from David’s new job!
