When the people of Israel demanded a king, God gave them Saul, but He was not pleased! They should have been content to have God as their King, but they wanted to be like the nations around them. But when Saul became disobedient, God chose another man to be their king: David, the youngest son of Jesse. There was a great contrast between the selection of these two men: men called for Saul to be king, but God chose David to be king. In this message, we see the spiritual criteria for leadership as demonstrated by God’s selection of this new king “after His own heart.”
