As Jesus was coming back into Jerusalem after His triumphal entry the day before, He came across a fig tree that looked really promising from afar. Its leaves were green and full, but upon closer inspection it had no figs – it was nothing but leaves, and Jesus cursed it so that it ultimately dried up from the roots. Out of context, this might seem like a strange episode in the final week of Jesus’ ministry before the Cross; however, it actually teaches an important spiritual lesson about the spiritual barrenness of Israel at this time. Please join us as we explore the lessons of the fig tree with full leaves but no fruit.
