As we continue in our series on the Gospel of Mark, we find Jesus taking Peter, James, and John up into a high mountain and being transfigured before them. What a metaphor for our lives is this occurrence! Isn’t life a continuous stream of valleys, interspersed with the occasional mountaintop experience? Through this actual event in the experience of the disciples, we see how important it is to go UP the mountain with Jesus and to see Him in His full glory, but also how essential it is to come back DOWN the mountain with Jesus as well.
